HELP 1967 cl77 scrambler can't get clutch cover off???

Post by rebelbob » Sat Aug 16, 2008 9:15 pm

I have taken out all the screws around the cover and the cover will only move at the top when I pull the clutch lever but the bottom will not move. There is a LARGE screwdriver slot in the middle of the cover with a 10mm bolt just beside it that might be holding it and the kickstarter lever is removed but the pivot mechanism needs to come off (I think) so the cover can be removed. There was a rubber hole plug in the end of this pivot and when I removed it I cant see anything but what appears to be the end of a shaft. can anyone tell me the procedure for removing the cover and replacing the clutch cable?
Thanks, this is my first 305 I usually restore CB750K's but this is challenging.

Those were the first ones I removed Mouse?
What does the 10 mm bolt retain that is located beside the large slotted plug?

It holds the adjuster part after it has been adjusted. Have you wiggled the KS lever as you pry on the cover. Sometimes that part is stuck to the shaft. .............lm

I pulled the KS pin and removed the lever and the ball and small spring and the rubber plug from the mount and I don't know if the mount for the KS lever needs to come off from the outside of the engine or is it secured inside the case? if it needs to be removed how is this accomplished?

What is the large slotted plug for and does it need to be removed?
