Coming AlongComing AlongAll of you guys who do the exact nut and bolt restorations, please look the other way. Bobbed front fender, painted grab bar, Cl 72 rear fender. I know, but look what I started with. Motor is still on the bench getting a refresh with seals, rings, and cam chain. Hope to have everything back together before the end of summer. By the way the frame is painted with epoxy black appliance paint and the fenders are Dupli-Color spray with clear lacquer wet sanded between coats.
One of the best feelings in the world!!!!!!This morning I finished bolting the pipes back on my 66 Scrambler and it was time for the prayer and kick. I kicked it about 6 times and bingo, fired up. Took it around the block with temporary air filters. Clutch and carbs need a little fine tuning, but it runs damn good and shifts great. I used the old pistons and pins on the rebuild and gave the cylinders a good honing. New seals, rings, timing chain, carb kits and one real good cleaning was apparently all the old girl needed and this was initially going to be my parts bike. These are tuff little machines. After I finish bolting on all of the make me whole parts, I'll post a shot. Again thanks to all on this site who have helped with advice and posting their experiences. Every time I got behind the eight ball there was always someone or a thread to help me out. Now I am going for a ride.
99% ThereHere are a couple of shots. I still need to redo the seat and get a more period style mirror, but overall I am satisfied. I installed some mini baffles this afternoon also to keep the neighbors happy.
