When I was looking for a bike I saw a '66 with similar forks and brake. Must've been a transistion year. Or the usual last years leftover sold as this year's bike.

Thank you all for the positive feedback.

I have purchased some replacement fork boots for the bike. The current ones are dry-rotten, and are starting to crack on the top and bottom. I am not sure that I am ready to tear into the front end, but I will have to do it sooner or later.
