Hey DJM.....Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've not had the sidecase off the bike yet to checkout the front sprocket, I'm presuming it's on stock sprockets, but maybe not ?
I'm not after a "rocket", just an easy 60mph cruising speed. I had a friend ride with me to check out my speedo accuracy, I'm about 3-5mph out on the needle. I'm "wringing it's neck" to get 55mph at the moment. Planning on digging deeper over the winter, but there's not much info here in the UK. Just need someone to give me the ideal sprocket set up for an easy revving 60mph cruising speed....bottom end not important, clean acceleration would be a bonus....cheers Dave

Happy to offer advice, I'm actually not that far from you at Chesterfield in the UK. I have lots of info on these bikes. Generally 60s Honda speedos tended to get more accurate as the speed increased but your's doesn't sound to be too far out for a 50 year old instrument. If the engine is sound 60 mph cruising should be no problem but they do buzz a bit if you aren't used to Hondas. I did 100 miles on mine yesterday! According to period (US) road test the CL77 is geared at 10mph per 1000 RPM so at 60 mph should only be running at 6000 RPM. The same road test gives Max. speed of 90 mph but I haven't matched that with mine! The riding position really doesn't lend itself to high speeds but I expect the road tester would have been flat on the tank to reach that speed but I haven't tried that either! The 10mph per 1000 rpm equates to the factory spec...but with no revcounter, tricky to tell. I'm guessing 90mph is extremely optimistic !!
