Funny looking footpegs

Post by ramwing7 » Tue May 17, 2016 3:01 pm

I just picked up a '67 CL77 Scrambler. It's pretty beat up, but appears to be mostly there. I've restored Benlys, but never a Scrambler, so I'm in new territory.

I did notice something a bit odd, I think. Both footpegs angle slightly downward and forward at about a 30 degree angle. Is it supposed to be that way? Beats me how both could have been bent pretty much the same.

Opinions, comments, ideas??

Thanks.

A picture would be a big help. The stock units fold with return springs and have peg-rubbers. The tabs on the cross-bar mount at 2 places on each side of the frame.

Answered my own question this weekend.
I managed to get hold of a straight foot peg mounting bar and lo and behold the old one was bent on both sides. How the bar ended up being bent forward beats me. Somebody must have been riding pretty fast in reverse.
Either way, the straight mounting bar resulted in straight pegs.
Thanks to everyone.
