part swapping, tool kit types, stock mirrors.....

Post by maxdog » Thu Apr 09, 2015 7:21 pm

Hello all,
Just received my 67 CL77 from out of state. Noticed there are a few parts that have rust that I would like to replace. Other that CL72 models, are there any other honda scrambler models that would have any parts interchangeable with this CL77? First things that come to mind are handlebars, and rear shocks for now. Appreciate any help. And, if anyone has these parts available for sale, may be interested.

Also, the bike has a tool kit in a plastic pouch. In looking at online parts diagrams, the tool kit i have seen pictured has a tool roll, appears to be cloth, and has a tie. Were both kinds of tool kits used, or do I have something from a newer year?

Bike does not have mirrors. I know there are tons of mirrors out there, but I would like to get it as stock as possible. Is there a source for OEM stock mirrors?

Thanks in advance!!

Your bike would have come with a plastic tool pouch.

Loads of the new rectangle mirrors on e-bay. Probably your best bet for oem bars also. Lots of aftermarket stuff out there to.

The cloth tool-rolls were used on the earlier CL72 model............but the pic / line-drawing in the parts manual continued into the CL77 model. The current rectangular mirrors are best fitted to the CB models.........but will work on the CL models if you tilt the perches forward so the levers droop a bit more than shown in most pictures. The correct CL72-77 mirrors were shared with the CL160.........as were the handlebars for design but some units measure a little narrow. If your stock bars are not severely damaged, a good re-chrome may be preferred over 'close but not exact' aftermarket units. CL shocks from late in '64 to the end of '67 are unique to the models.

PS.......I have a spare set of re-chromed original bars.........but the chrome was removed to the copper for fitment of the throttle pipe........all copper would be covered by the pipe and grips.
