CL77 right side cover question

Post by Steverino » Mon Dec 15, 2014 10:35 pm

I am going to have to buy a right side cover (air cleaner case) for Jim's Scrambler. I have checked CSML and Ohio Cycle and neither differentiate between early and late bikes. Some eBay sellers do. My question is do all CL77/72 right side covers fit a 67 CL77?
Thank You, I appreciate your help.

I think it depends on the style of ignition switch, one is smaller diameter than the other which is why there are 2 covers listed, the later 72 is the same as the 77.

Steve, where in Oregon are you located? I'm north of Eugene in Harrisburg, maybe I can help with parts. Scram64

I don't believe I forgot anything, he asked about the two different covers and I tried to explain the differences as I see them, he will know what ignition switch he has and what questions to ask if he finds a cover.

Actually, there are 3 types of covers............the first were installed on the earliest '62 CL72s and have less metal on the sides and bottom....shallow returns. The 2nd type is full depth and fits over the threaded ignition switches..............the 3rd type is what you want for the later ignition diameter.

If your still looking..........I have several to choose from...........a nice straight original that will require new paint .........$30 shipped from Wisconsin.
