305 alive after 29 years
305 alive after 29 yearsI recently bought a 1966 305 Scrambler from a retired Honda factory field representative. He restored it 30 years ago with new Honda parts, including new tank and fenders, rode it for a year, then put it on display in the piano room of his house. The bike doesn't have a single stripped screw head or any sign of Mickey Mousery.
It still has Bridgestone Super Speed-21 tires that are in good shape. The fuel system was perfectly clean and the oil was like new Two years ago his wife banished the bike to the storage shed (that resembles a barn). I put gas in it and it started on the 5th kick and ran perfectly. I changed the oil, fuel hoses and cleaned it up a bit. Rode it for 33 miles today without a single problem. Starts on 2nd kick. Nice addition to my growing collection. I want to post a photo, but I can't figure out how. I don't know how much I can contribute to this forum technically, considering expert members like LoudMouse and others, so I gave a donation since there is so much useful info here. To attach pics, I load them into a file on the desktop. Then when you are posting, below the message body block, click on "browse" button in the "filename" line, find the pic you want, and double click it. Then click "add attachment" button. There are other ways, but this is simplest for me. If the pic is too large, you may have to downsize it.......I use the stretch/skew option in "Paint", but there are other ways as well. On some forums you must have some minimum # of posts to add a pic, but I don't think that is the case here. Give it a shot....everyone has something worthwile to add 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
