Post by junk726 » Thu Dec 05, 2013 11:52 pm

well fellas..feel free to rip me apart on what looks wrong or wuteva..but i am pretty happy with her! and YES..it is a "rattle can" backyard paint job! $75 total with a $30 can of Spraymax 2 clear coat (fuel resistant) so all in all..i cant complain...!..all i got left is the seat...(doin it as we speak;)...i will post pics of "finished project" asap! Bear with me guys..but i MUST give a shout out/"THANK YOU"S to a couple guys i have met on here thru my year LONG 2 year mission/build!...Firstly..Davo..(known as Davomoto on here)...I could NOT have done this or even got close to finishing my '65 without your help, the awesome hard to find parts (set of front forks i jammed a bushing in and he had a replacement for my "learning process";)..the skidplate, the proper tail light, bobbed front fender and mount....list goes on and on..not to mention ALL the knowledge you gave me on my bay area trip to "fix my tranny"...ima idiot... suffice to say thanks for ur EXTREME patience Davo!! I can't thank you enough man! seriously...i owe ya forever! Fast Fred..you too..thanks for the bars and the cables and the important "lil stuff" i coulda never tracked down without ya! Been awesome experience on here..EXCELLENT and helpful advice...and i have learned a TON about these bikes..(more than i sometimes wanted to!;)...I sold my '67 for $50 at a garage sale in 1993...(mistakes of my youth!) and it took me 20 years..but i got me a Scrambler again!:) thanks again..and lookin forward to RIDING!!

Junk, she's a beautiful bike! You did a gorgeous job on her, and that paint looks top drawer. Enjoy your rides!

Thank you for the kind words! I worked my butt off on her..paint could have come out better on the clearcoat..but it seems to be holding up fine! Update on my "overly cocky" boast of "no leaks" tho! unfortunately i have "sprung a drip/leak" and it is coming from the stator side....ugh! used brand new seals but who knows what i did wrong...i have read that the clutch push rod develops grooves causing a leak?.. and mine definitely has them..i will research further...thanks again!
