A few questions about CL77

Post by canadianCL77 » Mon May 27, 2013 1:32 pm

Hello.

I am new to the honda 305 club, having just purchased what I believe to be a 67 CL77. It has serial number CL77 - 106522x. With chrome fenders. Only 3100 miles and everything is there and looks mostly original - other than air cleaners, chain guard, left side cover, and keyed ignition/steering lock. I think that it is in good enough condition, that I will just do a good cleaning, replace a few parts and leave it original. It runs great, but needs the carbs rebuilt(sticky float). I will try and attach a pic. The chrome on the front fender is nasty looking so for now I will just paint it.

First, it has a stripe on the tank, rear fender and side covers. Has anyone ever seen this? Could it have been added by a PO? The fender and covers look like it is just a stick on graphic, but the tank is actually tapered and looks like it could be factory.

Also, what are the production numbers of the cl vs. the cb? What is the more desirable/valuable? Obviously the cl is way better looking.....

Decals and pin striping are not factory.

Well, I guess no super rare version. Oh well, at least now I can peel them off I wasn't crazy about them anyhow.

Thanks HT.
