What year is my Cl77 engine?

Post by onemangang » Tue Jan 18, 2011 12:16 am

I was looking through the Bill Silver book and I could only determine that it was between 65-67. The engine numbers are Cl77 1041250. My question is regarding what front sprocket to get, I have read that some late models require the narrow front sprocket. I have no front sprocket as of yet, so any advise would help. I do have the narrow cam chain tensioner if that information helps. Thank you!

CS sprocket

Oneman, I would guess by the engine number that you would need the larger spline CS.sprocket. My CL no# 1034582 has a tag on the wiring harness ID'ing it as a 66..........D

For discussion ya probably have a bike issued in 1966.
No For Sure Data on that.
As I checked the parts book I find you will need the sprocket (15 tooth) with the Deep Splines.
That said in your case ya can install the Shallow Spline Sprocket and it will be OK.
The sprocket spline depth was changed at CL77E-1043132 for many of the engine parts with splines. ...............lm
