CL300 Scrambler

Post by CL300Randy » Sun Sep 24, 2006 1:37 pm

Hello, I am new to this site,I have been involved w CL72 & 77's for 6 years racing vintage MX,several of the bikes that have come my way I have put aside for restoration ..most recently a CL300 fr#CL300 1000259 engine#CL300E-1000264 it may have been a domestic model brought to US,it has factory turn signals, it is black with silver painted tank & fenders. I believe it would be 1968? Are there production figures known for CL300? Does anyone know of a newer one(higher serial#?) I am thinking it could be near the very last of the 305 scramblers made.

Thanks,Steve! it's 1968 for sure, not a hold over 1967 as they were all CL77 (not that there is anything wrong with that!?)ps; hard to pi** me off, I have a dozen 250's & 305's CLs&CBs which makes me happy, but no Dreams....unless 150 Benlys count..I have an early one of these.

Actually I don't believe that any CL/CBs were made in 1968. That was the first year of the replacement 350's. It may be titled as a 1968 as Honda had a habit of titling them in the year sold. You could probably have a 1966 even that was actually made in 1964. Under the tank there is usually a tag wheiyth actual year or the serial number can be found in the parts manual. Most 67's had the seam down center of tank on top. JMHO. I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.(ha) Charlie

I today looked at a CL77 with the engine# CL300E-10002xx. Never saw that before. Could it be a "home" model?
