Serial number research

Post by sparks454 » Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:57 am

Hi everyone. Started a restoration project for a bike for my father. Still waiting for the previous owner to locate the title. Was hoping someone could help pinpoint when the bike was built. The serial no. is 1011639 and the engine no. is cl77E- 1011572. We were told they 'think' it's a '67.

Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Chris

If it has the Small Brakes and steel fork sliders I'd suspect the numbers show what is considered a 1965 issue.
Look at the wire harness under/at the rear of the gas tank and ya should see/find a white tag with a year printed in black. ...........lm

What size brakes I am looking for? Also, the tag with the date is apparently gone. I don't see it anyway on or near the wiring harness.

brakes

What LM is refering to is the earlier small brakes had only one lever to engage both shoes. The later large brakes had two levers, one for each shoe. Are the lower fork tubes steel or alloy?

The front brake only has 1 lever and the lower fork tubes seem to be steel.

Then it's considered to be a 1965. .............lm
