Just my opinion, but it seems that the numbers might have been "helped" out some. Either that, or the line technician might have been sucking on some sake or Akadama red port wine.

Frame and engine numbers

Post by 1963CL250 » Mon Sep 07, 2009 4:17 pm

Yes, they are all over the place. Very funny! I measured the "ones" on the engine and the motor both were .250" tall. It seems like they should be metric.

I've had the bike for about 18 years and I still talk to the guy I got it from so I'll have to ask about the history. All I know for sure is that the motor was seized up around 1974.

The bike has a total hippie look. Maybe I should search for drugs as well!

I have a CL frame that only has two letters stamped on it. Apparently a replacement due to accident (?) Frame from the way the seat mounts (lip affair) and the seat itself seems to be a 1967 type. I believe the gas tank may have also been replaced as no typical 1967 seam .

I ask the height cause the numbers aren't in line as they are when HONDA stamped them.
HONDA did use some sort of tool to put the numbers on the frame.
I'd say that is a replacement frame. ..............lm

Tim, check the fuel tank for cocaine! For those of us old enough to remember!
