I think I know the answer to my question, but I hate facing reality, so I thought I'd get some expert advise before I take my clutch cover apart. I completely rebuilt the engine and used new barnett discs and new steel plates, but almost every time I get on my 305 scrambler, the clutch is stuck. I mean even over night. Now I took it all apart, everything looked great except for the plunger on the outside of the pressure plate(?). It had a nice groove cut in it, so I replaced it with one that looked like new. I've rebuilt several of these motors with the same combo and never had this problem. The only thing I can think I did is threw out the 2 wire retainers that are mixed in the discs from the factory. Is that what these are supposed to prevent? If so I have several that I've saved, I had heard to throw them away because they are bad about coming apart and going through the motor. Any help or suggestions would be great. Also, I have my superhawk rat rod for sale on ebay. Check out the exhaust, I had posted about it before here, but my pics would never download to share them with you all. Thanks Nutt.
