oil leak

Post by Franko » Tue Oct 28, 2008 4:09 pm

My Cl-72, with a 305 engine, is leaking oil that spatters on the right ignition cover. Looks like it comes up where the chain guard attaches to the engine. Also drips alot of oil underneath the right cover. Could this be a gasket issue or is this a common problem? This is my first CL-72/77.

You will find five seals on that side.

CHECK YOUR ROD

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR CLUTCH PUSH ROD FOR GROVING WHERE IT CONTACTS THE PUSH ROD SEAL. EVEN WITH A NEW SEAL THE GROVE IN THE ROD GOING IN AND OUT WILL QUICKLY WEAR THE NEW SEAL OUT.
