Headlight ring

My bike has the newer ring with the adjustable left/right screw, these bulbs are expensive and a little hard to come by. I am thinking of one of the older ones without the left/right adjuster because those bulbs are cheap and easy to get. I am wondering if either ring fits the headlight bucket?

I am also wondering about changing the rear sprocket, how much difference does 1,2,3 different teeth make? I was thinking if I could get a smaller sprocket I could get the engine rpms down a little and probably bring up the fuel economy a little.

Aron,
Just noticed you never got a reply to your question. According to the Parts Catalog the headlight case remained unchanged but there is indeed an early and late headlight and ring design. I have a rechromed early ring if you are interested but don't have the 3 springs required. I also recall that my replacement headlight I got from Ohio Cycle (I think) required me to bend the light terminals 90 degrees to wire it because they tried to interfere with the back of the case, or something else.

Either ring will take the earlier bulb. There ia a change in the 1967 HL bucket where the right/left screw goes the bucket is cut out. Bucket will fit any year CB because that change isn't visible. If you have the 15x32 combination I think you have a good gear ratio for starting, cruising and going fast. If you install a 30 rear you change all of these and because the ration is higher the engine doesn't climb hills as good as before and the top speed may lessen because the engine has problems pulling the weight/air mass at the same or higher speeds. ................lm
