Loose Baffle

Post by Texas Biker » Tue Jun 04, 2024 6:50 am

I have a nice silver '67 CL77. I recently noticed a loud rattle and long story short, the baffle (or one of the baffles) inside the muffler has come loose. I can use a magnet to get the baffle to the tip of the exhaust but the baffle is larger than the hole in the exhaust, so I can't get it out. Any suggestions on how to get this baffle out / reattach it? The chrome is pristine so I would rather not cut the chrome anywhere if I don't have to. Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you can share with me!

I'm not sure if you can get a firm grip with a small vise grip on it and hold on, if so perhaps you could use an air powered saw with a narrow (about a quarter inch wide blade) to cut it into smaller pieces, then retrieve the pieces. I have one purchased from Harbor Freight a while back that has saved me a lot of frustration with problems like your experiencing.
