new scrambler project,, I'm back
new scrambler project,, I'm backAfter a long break doing other accomplishments, I have decided to take on another rebuild project. I picked this one up today and will start a new rebuild thread soon. looking forward to new activity coming up. Also I will be working on the cl300 as well that somehow followed me home last year. Rusty
Apparently I will have to load the pic to flicker and edit this later. So here it is I think https://flic.kr/s/aHsmGYzYMh https://www.flickr.com/photos/153409479 ... ed-public/
Re: updateI finally got around to getting other projects out of the way and with virus restrictions looming I now have time on my hands . I got ambitious and pulled the engine and broke down the upper end. Since I could not get a suitable compression test. What I found was stuck rings and slick cylinder walls. So for now it gets a fresh hone job and new rings. I also found an oil spinner drive chain sprocket that spun on the shaft. The last one in there did not tighten the jam nut and locked the nut down loose as a goose allowing the sprocket to spin freely driving nothing.
Should get this one running in the next couple weeks. Rusty Re: new scrambler project,, I'm backHi Rusty!

Re: new scrambler project,, I'm backIt is really fun to be back and fun to be wrenching on a scrambler again. Almost ready to fire the latest one off and bring her back from the dead. When I do I will start a new restoration thread to log the progress. Will post lots of pics. Rusty
Re: new scrambler project,, I'm backIT RUNNNNNS! Fired off on the fourth kick. What a feeling to hear an old beast roar after 20 plus years. Now I can enjoy the ride while making plans for the cosmetics of it all. Rusty
Re: new scrambler project,, I'm backok, I know I should Know the answer to this but it has been such a long time. While adjusting the carbs I found a cup of oil under the right crank seal. Can I get that seal replaced without pulling the engine. Rusty
Re: new scrambler project,, I'm backYes Rusty, it can be replaced without pulling the engine.
