Fuel, fire and compression, but no start

Post by hurdlesemo » Mon Jun 20, 2011 6:34 pm

Just finished a motor rebuild of a 67 CB77. Got it all put back together - swapped out pistons with a spare set from a better bike, new plugs, plug wires, gaskets, condenser, points & plate.

Went to start it today and I've got compression - exhaust and intake - and fire at the plug but it isn't starting.

What is really weird is the fact that we had the throttle wide open and it never fired and the plugs are dry. Whenever I put my hands over the intake on the carbs they are wet with fuel, but it doesn't seem that it is getting in the cylinder. However I'm not sure that is the problem, but if it is any ideas?

Thanks

Josh

put your hand over the carb with the throttle open and see if it pushes air against your hand or sucks

OK quick update.

Was doing some tinkering and this is what I found. Getting spark on the right side and when I switch wires from the condenser to the coils (switching green to yellow and yellow to green) I am getting spark on the left side but not on the right side.

So I changed out the condenser to an old one I had and same result.

I don't know now because the old condenser was just fine. Getting fire from both coils - one at a time when I switch wires. Plugs and wires are both new and getting good spark when I'm getting fire from the coils.

Could I have two condensers that the left side only is fouled on?

Any other ideas?
