CB72 verification (edit - with link to photos)CB72 verification (edit - with link to photos)Hi all,
i am currently looking at purchasing a neglected CB72 to bring back to life as a historics racer. The seller sent me some photos and one friend said the engine looked like a 150cc and that i should get him to send me the engine and VIN numbers to confirm it is a CB72 and it is 250cc. in doing so he sent me the following: CB72 - 1009487 CB72E - 026950 Does this confirm what i am asking? Interesting bike.
There engine (crankcases) are earlier than the frame but the early-style cases with the breather tower at the back are often sought-after fro race bikes because they 'look' more like racers with that style of breather. If your engine number is correct it would suggest that it could be a 1960 motor - very rare but also unlikely. I would suggest that someone has stamped a replacement case....... Anyhow - that looks a really nice project. Interesting to know if it is a 250 or whether it has been overboard. G
