Saved a Super Hawk

Post by Dreamsuperhawk » Sun Nov 06, 2016 12:53 pm

The other day I brought home a 63 Super Hawk. given to me by an older gentleman I was helping clearing debris from his yard. I have the title pink slip papers for it too. It's sort of in parts though. Engine is out of the frame with head pulled off. He told me it was burning oil and he was going to replace the rings, then never got to it. We couldn't find the tank at the time but he is going to look for it. Anyway, I took the bike knowing it could be special to somebody out there, or go for a restoration of sorts. So I need your help to sort things out, like what have I gotten myself into. I need to learn about the bike somewhat, what might be my first few steps in organizing my thoughts, then decide what to do. Any ideas???

Loma Linda, Ca

61

Owned Honda 175 and CL350 in the past, currently ride a 2006 Triumph Bonnie.

Moderate wrenching for repairs.
Rebuilt two Corvair engines, one Chevy nova straight six, and built a Toyota Landcruiser from a wrecked one and a burned out one, rebuilt a 49 Willys jeep too. But all not showroom quality.

Don't have too many tools other than typical sockets and wrenches, don't know how to weld or do bodywork (don't see any cracks or bend in frames anyway)

Thank you for the reply.
I'd say depending on WHAT IS MISSING you may want to consider getting either one or both running.
Runners bring more pleasure if you ride them or more $$$$ if you sell them.
You of course will need a CLYMER MANUAL and parts book for them.
Please add your CITY so members in GARDEN GROVE and RIVERSIDE and ANAHEIM can see your location and MAY like to help you. ....................lm

Hi dreamsuperhawk, judging from your previous experience with engine rebuilds, you will have no problems building a CB72/77 engine. Have fun with it, and remember, there is always help available from the guys and gals on this forum.
Brian.
