CB77 Handlebar Questions

Post by NovaHawk » Sun Aug 21, 2016 4:37 pm

Hello,

This is my first post to the forum. I had my first Superhawk in 1970. It was a 1967 model and I used it for daily transportation as well as frequently riding it in the dirt.

A few years ago I bought a 1968 CB77 that has mini-ape hangers on it. Although its a comfortable ride I'm ready for a different look for the bike.

My original bike had 305 CL77 Scrambler type bars, including the cross bar, but I don't know if they were stock to the bike. I bought it from the original owner who was only 15 at the time so it seems unlikely he would have changed them out. Does anyone know if CB77's came with scrambler type bars as an option?

My main question is, if I changed over to CL77 bars, what cables should I get? Would CL77 clutch, brake and throttle cables work on the CB77. Would mid-rise CB77 cables be long enough.

I'm also considering the CB77 mid-rise bars. Does anyone have the dimensions? Rise, pullback, width? I know they are impossible to find. Is there a close match that is available?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

The bike wasn't issued with the CL bars but owners replaced many stock ones with CL bars.
I'd think CL cables would be close enough to work.
I sold my last mid-rise so can't help with the dimensions. ..............lm

I have sold 2 sets of Scrambler cables to people doing this same conversion. CL bars on the CB. The Scrambler cables work just fine.
