cb77 piston ring thickness (compression)

Post by pguzman » Sat Aug 13, 2016 7:31 pm

i have been having trouble sourcing rings for my 1962 CB77. the last two sets that I recieved have measured .070 thick (the compression rings). the old rings measure .058. Have there been two different thickness rings used over the years? I have 6 separate sets of pistons sourced before 1972 which all measure .058 Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you have early C77 rings which were thicker than CB/CL rings. I'll check the thickness of the ones I have later and see if they are .070

Please give the numbers for the ring set you have.
If the middle numbers are 266 Dick is correct. ................lm

I just checked the ones (C77) I have and they are in fact .070, checked CB rings and are .058. My C77 are all coded with the old system part numbers.
