What kind of load can the '65 CB77 carry?

I don't mean cargo - I mean me. I am a load. 6'0 tall, 280. Love the bike - just don't know if I can realistically expect to ride it. Or will I look like those guys in the old Guinness Book of World Records? Any input from men of substantial size is welcomed. Don't worry about offending my sensibilities... I have a mirror.

Welcome. I think 280 is within the superhawk's capacity, after all it has a two passenger seat. In your case I think it's all a matter of comfort. Does the seat interface with your rump adequately? Is the suspension adequate for your riding? (the rear shocks are adjustable). Are the brakes good and can stop in a reasonable distance? Just take it for a ride and ask yourself those questions. Don't worrying about people staring. They will be looking at the classic bike, not the rider.

Thanks for the info. The bike is about an hour away from me and I was thinking about heading up that way over the holiday weekend and checking it out. 12,356 on the clock, everything works, new front tire, black and silver paint has be re-done, clean title and current license plates. Asking $4,000. Any thoughts from anyone on that?

There really is no definitive book value on these bikes. It all comes down to what you the buyer are willing to pay. Condition and complete with original parts are a big factor. At $4000 there may be some wiggle room in the price. However, you may have to spend considerably more to make another lower priced bike just as nice as this one. It never hurts to make an offer of your own after you see it in person. The worst the seller can say is no. Ask about the tank badges, the one in the picture looks like an original. If they are it may be a clue that the bike was sheltered in a garage through the years.
