DIY and How-to list for the Superhawk

Post by cyclon36 » Mon Nov 15, 2010 12:13 pm

This post will serve as a place holder for all the DIY threads and how-to's that have been posted up on the board. It's hard searching through the forum for the how to stuff so having a list that links you to the posts will be handy. I'll sub-divide the links into the main sections. If you know of a thread on this board or elsewhere that outlines a repair, mod, restoration, or maintenance procedure for the Superhawk, please post it up and i'll add it to this post. Feel free to include upgrades, downgrades, add-ons, and anything you feel might help the next guy out no matter how small or easy it may seem. Basically, everything from oil changes to engine rebuild. Threads with pictures are a plus.

I was just reading this thread, i wonder how applicable it is to the superhawk

I think i'll do this on the superhawk and document it and any differences between the operations.

The basics are the same and it's a great documentation so I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the link.

Ed Moore offers great painting advice on first page
Ed Moore's DIY painting procedure
FYI Ed also gave the following paint codes
Bike silver is DuPont IMRON 45040U (Fenders and Side covers)
Black is DuPont IMRON 99U.
Red 6543UM
Blue 63203UH
Ed did not offer a white code but someone else offered the following POSSIBLE match
White Dupont 508IB or 508LB (not sure if I or L)

Here is one that needs to be documented with step by step photos but is covered fully in the thread at some point in text.

I opened up my speedo and cleaned it and reset the numbers last night. I didn't have near the patience the feller in the how to did...

AND IT SHOWS.

luckily the bezel is INSIDE the headlight case and out of site, but everything looks beautiful.
I wasn't having any issues with my speedo being off, so I left the oil and springs as they were. I'll post the photos tonight.
