front fender

Hello, my first post here. I just acquired a 68 Superhawk. In good shape, but missing a front fender, and needing correct exhaust. I'm not sure whether my bike should have a chrome fender or painted grey one. After looking a lots of pics, it seems like different years had different finishes. Can anyone tell me what a '68 should have? The rear fender is grey, but it has been worked on.

1968 is not the actual year of mfg. of your bike but more likely the year it was sold. If your frame number is higher than CB77-1056084 your fender would be chrome if lower it was painted. Gray was not the paint color. It was a silver color. What is the frame number of your bike? Super Hawk. ........................lm

Thanks, yes, mine is lower...starts 104...so should the back fender be silver as well?...I've seen pictures with chrome rear and painted front.

Keep in mind these bikes were made a long time ago and lots of parts have been changed. The fenders and side/air cleaner covers will be silver on your bike unless it is a white isssue. ....................lm
