'65 CB77?? Worth restoring or not?

Post by dcarp » Fri Aug 24, 2007 10:52 pm

Greetings. I just acquired this titled CB77 today for $200 with under 2000 original miles. However, the motor is in worse shape than I had anticipated. Hopefully you guys can help me out with a couple of questions. First off, can anyone tell me the year on this bike? It is titled as a '67, but I know that it is not. I am thinking '65 due to the lack of a front lip on the seat, but a "conventional" speedo/tach. Also, it has shouldered steel rims, and metal rear shock covers (my '67 has plastic covers). The motor is locked, and it was a mess when I pulled off the clutch side cover, as you can see in the pictures. I would love to restore this bike, but also don't want a money pit. There are plenty of good parts that I could use on my '67, but... Thanks in advance for any input.

I do think it would help to figure the year if ya gave the frame numbers. I've worked on engines that ugly and all it takes is a good 5 gallon can of carb cleaner and time. At least it has the best clutch. ...............lm

Frame number shows this to be a 1964 model CB77. Some times these bikes were titled as the year sold. I have a CA77 dream that is titled as a 69 but Honda stopped production of these in 67.Hope this helps.
