Hmmmm,
The fender(as you stated)definately looks out of place and is from a CB450 (per the caption).
I've seen pictures of CR engine numbers that do not have the textured background, but that's
possibly a result of being sandcast rather than a diecasting as the production cases. Do these crankcases hava a relatively rough texture to them? At any rate, you have an interesting bike.

I have a CB77 motor with the blank case somewhere...

Some thoughts on the DRF bike:

a) The OE turn signal switch is a scarce item; would almost certainly have been installed at the factory. BTW, does the bike have a large can flasher relay in a bracket, on the frame, under the seat, in front of the battery?

b) if yes, further confirmation of a factory install

c) There are winkers specifically made for the German market, although the fronts on your bike are not them. Please post a photo of the rear winkers or where they mount on the frame...

d) My CP77, with German winkers, most likely came from Canada, as many CP bikes did.

e) A metric speedo would be appropriate for Canada - the most likely former place of registration on your bike.

f) Germany could also be it.

All told, I'd try to trace the bike through Canadian channels first, using both the DRF and CB or CP in front of the digits...

Ah...Canada-That would make sense. Upon further research I have found that the turn signals are from a Suzuki. But, the tabs on the frame below the seat look stock. Also, the headlight ears that hold the turn signals up front are like no ears I have ever seen. And the switch on the bars is stock. I'll look under the seat tonight. I'll post pics of these parts tonight as well.

My next question for the 305er's out there is: How do I research the history of this bike? I've never done that before...
Thanks.

The new replacement frames from Honda had no numbers stamped on them. You stamped your old frame number on it to match the damaged frame number. I have 2 NOS Honda frames and both are blank. One is a CL72 frame and the other is a CB160. Buck
