I wasn't very clear in my first post. I used David's Pipes but CMSNL Mufflers. They went together just fine. I see that CMSNL's mufflers are full price right now. But, when they are on sale they are a great value.

Are you referring to the "non-OE alternative" on CMSNL?

Yes. They are not exact copies of the originals, but they are of high quality and they have the same appearance as the originals. The main difference is they have high quality welded on flanges instead of the original bolt-on mounting plate. They are properly shaped as the originals and the chrome is very good. I've seen some of the eBay mufflers that are described as being for the CB77 that bear no resemblance at all. If I was doing another CB77 I would buy another set from CMSNL.

Steve

They look great. Just for the record - the Honda mufflers with the bolt-on bracket are a later revision. Early mufflers had the claw type bracket like your photographs. Those are essentially reproductions of the original Honda design.

Thank Gordon, I didn't know that. I like them even more now!
