Key blank source? Replacement ignition switch?

Post by booboo » Fri Dec 22, 2006 6:20 pm

My first post but I read your forum religiously; it's been a great help. Hope this isn't too dumb of a question.

I have a '62 Superhawk with original ignition switch and 1 key, bent and about to break. I've tried Hondakeys but the keys I bought there (same key code) don't fit; totally different cut. Not his fault. Honda must have used the same code over again. Anyway does anyone know of a source for a blank T1 Honda key? No one in town has one. Alternately who has replaced the ignition switch and with what? I hate to do this but may have to. I'm considering a cb160 switch, dream switch, universal switch - what's worked for you?

Thanks and thanks for a very informative forum/site.

for my ca77 , i was able to buy a key blank from a guy that specialises in vintage keys...then had it cut at a hardware store. i had often seen him selling at some of the automotve swap meets in the area (minnesota) and took my original key along to match it up

maybe there is someone out there in california that does that too..or if you like i still have his business card and could give you his contact info.keep in mind it was about 8-10 years ago , his situation may have changed

If you don't mind, I'd like his info. I could get the key cut in town (has to be hand cut since my original is bent) Thanks.

Anyone fit a different switch to their superhawk? Hate to do it but I also hate to rig it for hotwiring till I solve this problem.
