working my way thru issues.

bike is looking good. and working my way through mechanical issues. got points cover off and loadmouse helped me with replacement screws(thanks). now the same gorilla that tighten that ,has the point plate screws so tight i can't move them. any ideas?

one noise that really has be baffled is when i take it out for a ride and back off the gas i get a strange
grinding ,rubbing, ??? not sure how to describe it noise ?? only when i back off the gas ,and moving? any ideas what to look at??? thanks

Impact screwdriver if they are still usable or a drill bit to drill off their heads if they are mashed.

I found just about every screw and bolt on our CB77 was stuck tight. Buy lots of PB Blaster, soak down the suborn screws and bolts and give time for the oil to work it's way in.

Get yourself a new set of screwdrivers. Phillips screwdriver heads will get wore out over time. A good sharp phillips will dig in, but be careful not to let it slip. It wrecks the head, and eventually the screwdriver.

A hand impact driver is a great tool for the phillips head screws. I would also try a sharp chisel on the edge of the screw heads to brake them free. Your trying to work the head counter clockwise to break it free.

If none of these work, you will need to use a drill and drill the head of the screw off. The remaining screw normally comes off easy. If not, you will have to drill it and use and easy-out. A set of metric tap and die's is also a handy thing for chasing the threads. I have also used them to verify the screw thread when I needed to buy replacements.

For these small screws on the points plate, if you have a small vice grips, you can sometimes get these on the screw heads and break them free. I have this small vice grips on a Leatherman. It has broke free many stubborn screws.

On your grinding/rubbing noise when backing off. Better check your chain to make sure it isn't too loose. Also check your rear axle to make sure nothing is loose or moving.
