just bought a CB72 and need helpjust bought a CB72 and need helpI recently purchased a 1961 CB72 that has been sitting in a garage since 1980. I have a few questions: On the side of the gas tank the badge say's it's a Honda 300, but when I look on-line I find 1961's CB72's are listed as 250's? Also the guy I bought it from said it was a Honda Dream, but looking it up on-line I find it to be a Honda Hawk? Did these bikes originally come with turn signals? Where can I find a service manual for this bike, there are some levers & switches on this bike that are not labeled so I don't really know what they do. Is it very hard to find parts for these old bikes, I know I will have to replace most of them because all I have to do is turn the gas valve to on and gas runs out of the back of the carbs & the valve itself.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I have ~ 50 more questions but I'll wait to ask. I really like the look of this bike & hope to get it running in the near future. CB72You can get books and more by looking to the left yellow area on this site. There is a literature link where there is plenty of info with restoration guides.I believe there is a good write-up on how to tune the two carbs on your bike also in the maintenance section. Also, there is a 305 site on Yahoo that is good also. Most people visit both of these sites for info. There are usually parts for these bikes on Ebay, Ohio cycle has tons of parts also. Also, the discplacement of your engine is on the engine cylinders. Just look where the jug and cylinders meet amd you should see it. It may be covered with dirt or oil.I think some people refer to these bikes as Super Dream Hawks.Tons of people smarter than me on here that can help. I know they helped me for the last two years.
