Any idea's on these coils ?

Post by bonjour » Thu Jul 10, 2014 1:06 pm

Hello, 2years ago I restored my CB77 , prev. owner had another CB77 where he used to race with in the 70's.
He bought my CB77 for parts, but never needed parts (ja, Honda's are good products :P ) , so anyway, bought the 'spare' bike and restored it.

So, while I was pulling the bike apart, I came across these coils..

On one side (can't be seen in these pics) there seem to be some 'original' numbers (not like a long part number, but just some letters) .

I haven't tested the coils, is this some DIY project or is there more to this ? Seen something like this before ?

Ignition coils

Post by GORDON BROWN » Tue Jul 15, 2014 11:04 am

Hello Bonjour

The ignition coils look similar to the AC coils fitted to the energy transfer systems on the RSC 350 etc. and possibly what is shown in the race parts list for the CB72/77. They may work with a standard DC battery system, not sure how well.
I have sent you a PM about them with some more information regarding them.

Gordon.
