starting 305 honda dream.starting 305 honda dream.I am waiting on a NOS key for my ride. I tried to kick it over to see if the engine is froze. It will not kick. I pull in the clutch and it kicks but engine will not turn over, does that mean it is locked up? I found it in a shed last monday and traded a gun for it. It is all there with buco bags and hardware. I want to spend the next month cleaning it up and getting it ready to ride. I am also looking for front and rear 325x16 5/8'' ww. any help is appreciated. TY
Pull the spark plugs out and look for rust and signs of moisture. A mix of acetone and ATF, poured in the plug holes, is a good thing to try for freeing stuck(rusted) pistons . Pull the alternator cover off and put a socket on the bolt to see if you can rock the crank back and forth to loosen things.

"Locked up" is usually caused by corrosion between the pistons and cylinder walls. Some have had luck with their own special sauce in the spark plug holes, usually consisting of a mixture of penetrating oil and rust remover. After a day or so, apply a little heat to the cylinders and if you're lucky, it will kick over. If it were me, I'd pull the engine and take off the head to see exactly what you're up against. You can then gently persuade the pistons from the top. Once they're free, take off the cylinder and inspect it and the pistons for damage. At that point you have a lot of options. If it looks really bad and you have another gun, you could shoot it... -48
