Couple electrical questions- 1965 305 Dream

Hi

I got my 1965 305 Dream going today off a portable tank. The bike hasn't been run in at least ten years. I rebuilt the carb, put in some new plugs, set the points and got her going. A great feeling. I couldn't ride it as I don't have a tank ready yet.

I have a couple questions.

Points? I bought some replacement points which are identical in size, but do not have the whole for the little adjusting screw, they just have the slotted mounting holes. I didn't use them. Are they ok without that little whole?


Brake Light? The electrical seems great on the bike, all the lights work except the littlle light by the speedo and the various key positions all function as they are supposed to. But my brake light only works when I depress the rear brake, is it supposed to work off the front on this year as well??

theres a little bulb in the speedo must be blown take the head light out and its right there under the speedo and your brake light i think thats all right sounds right to me have a nice day..

Appreciate the response. Hope all is well. Did your bike sell??? Thanks for going back and forth with me on that whole scenario. I also see that your very helpful in this forum. I have bought a total of 4 tanks so far. One was for a Benly 160 and was wrong,(still have it) one was not much better than mine and I sent it back to the guy, and I have two more coming.
