ngkd6ha vs ngkd8ha

Post by rrrestorations » Thu Jul 12, 2012 6:59 am

Been running the d8ha plugs in my 65 ca77 dream.
sometimes plugs are black and fouled. have adjusted air screws and idle speed to many different variations. would like to try the ngkd6ha plugs. can anyone tell me if thats ok to do so. Ive been told to hot of plug can burn a hole in pistons.
any help would be appreciated.

Black and fouled plugs most likely caused by something other than plug range.

I run the 6's with no problem, but have also used the 8's.

What jetting and float level are you using?

Spark plug fouling

Post by GG » Thu Jul 12, 2012 7:06 pm

Hello,

Loud Mouse is right, the fouling is probably due to something else - timing or most probably too rich a mixture. I have a 1966 cb77, and I moved to 5,000 elevation and had tremendous problems with fouling. I had to re-jet several times to smaller jets - both primary and secondary jets. Now it runs MUCH better. What is your elevation?

Since it is cool where I live, I run the ngk 6's, but if I go on a longer trip where it will be hot, I put the 8's in, just to be safe. For short trips and cooler weather the 6's are great.

I wish you the best!

GG
