I was refering to just drilling off the head of the screw if it were stripped and no bite left. Not the threads. On smaller fasteners like these extracters tend to expand the metal. But its an option.

got cover off. drilled out screw heads. can not find replacement screws at my local hardware. what is the exact size . and does anybody know where i might get them? thanks for any help,

They are 5x30 probably "old" JIS threads...different pitch than current 5mm.
Might try Fast Fred on this board or Ohio Cycle.

I cheated and retapped the holes to a more common screw thread. Many more screws available .

FASTFREDKOREN@aol.com has/had the OEM JIS screws.
