Bad rims warning

Post by dohcmike » Mon Sep 19, 2011 3:44 am

I bought a C77 rim (Union Cycles 1.85 x 16) on Ebay from a Thai seller, turned out to be all wrong.
Asked Bill Silver about it said it is a rim for a CA95, sold to me as a rim for C77
When lacing it it turned out the spokesholes are wrong and the angle of the spokes, so I, m left with a useless wheel.
Contacted the seller oo-nozz but all I get is lame excuses and general disbelief.
Turns out the guy doesn,t know what he is selling and refuses to pay back money for the rim and leaves me with the bill for lacing, shipping and handling.
Kept sending endless mails why he is not to blame, but it is his ad and when asked before buying he said it is the right one.
Thanks a lot, don,t buy from this guy!
Be warned and save yourself a lot of annoyance!

Maybe someone knows where i can get the right rim?and what to order exactly?
It is for a Dutch C77 low bar type....1962

oo-nozz is not his real Ebayname, but the opposite ( last part)

Bad luck with your rims. Central Wheel Components in Birmingham, UK, know what they are doing. Here is their ordering procedure:

Good luck!

I contacted them already, but I,m not sure now what to order. anymore....

The rim diameter, width, and number of spokes is easy enough. It should be full width hub with no offset. It may also help to furnish the diameter of the spoke nuts (nipples) where they pass through the rim. What is important, will be supplying the spoke circle (D1/D2, should be the same), and spoke flange width (W1) dimensions. This will allow them to angle the holes in the rim properly. Regards, Chase
