Hi, so just started riding my finished CA77 project the other day and quickly realised that my odometer is not all that accurate. It clocks distance too quickly. I rode from my work to home and it indicated about 8 miles. It's only about 3 miles in reality. To me this doesn't make sense because the odometer is essentially geared directly to the front wheel while the speedometer runs off of spring tension right? Any ideas or pointers to set me in the right direction for correcting this?
Thanks, Jethro

You are absolutely right, it's a geared drive. Somehow the gearing has changed. I wonder if you might have a drive box from a different Honda or someone has restored the speedo and put the wrong parts in. I've never checked the gear ratio so I don't know what you should expect. an 8/3 discrepancy sounds a lot though. Happy to check through some of mine if you want to experiment..... I got the speedo off of E-bay and it only had around 3,000 miles on it. I tore it apart and set the odometer back to zero because I overhauled engine. I lubed everything and put it all back together the same way it was taken apart. The bezel looked untouched before I took it apart and am fairly certain it had never been apart before. I suppose a problem could be in the drive gear in the wheel hub? If you do happen to have knowledge of the ratios that would be very helpful. Thanks again G Jethro
