Aftermarket side stand

Post by modelman » Sat May 21, 2016 2:47 am

The only side stand I seem to find is the 'MK11' from Thailand, anyone here got one or can
give opinion as to fit, quality etc. seems a but pricey to risk if its made from monkey-metal.

I bought one many years ago for a different bike & I could bend the 'cast-steel' leg by heating it for a better lean-angle!!

Or, anyone got one to sell me??

Modelman, yes, I just mounted a "MKII" side stand from Thailand. See the short discussion and photos at http://www.honda305.com/forums/1964-sup ... 145-7.html

In sum, I would not buy it again. Ask any questions you'd like.

Modelman, I bought a side stand from the far east. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380671247712? ... EBIDX%3AIT
and was pleasantly suprised with the quality. Fitting was quite easy, a new engine bolt about 15mm longer was reqired, the main stand bolt thread was cut off & a longer threaded stud was screwed in after drilling and tapping.
The spring action has a reasuring feel when the stand is extended though some metal needed removing to give more travel. The return action is softer so it does not smack into the silencer with the rubber stopper, however some metal needed removing to stop it catching on the lower seam weld of the silencer .
