kick start swing arm foot pedal disassembly question

Can anyone tell me how to separate the kickstarter swingarm from the kickstarter pedal? I see that the individual pieces are sold separately so I know it can be done. Thank You

You need to make some kind of tool to push on the pedal where the circlip seats. Once you get the circlip out the pedal will come off.

Do you really need to take that apart?
Not the easiest thing to take apart then reassemble.
I made a tool with 1 inch angle iron with hole 1/8 inch oversize the kick starter knuckle washer, 3 inch bolt.
I place the KS lever in a vise and use the tool to push the washer down and then remove the clip.
If I get a chance I'll send a pic. ................lm

The only reason I want to take it apart is the plating on the swingarm is good but it is gone on the pedal. If I could put an acceptable original type of finish on the pedal that would solve the problem.

I have used a brake spring tool that is used to compress the small coil spring in automotive drum brakes to remove the circlip on the kickstarter arm. I clamp the kickstart arm in a vice so I can press downward, then have my son remove the clip with a magnet.
