I was looking for the rubber boots that go over the bulbs on the CB72/77 Speedo's and as I would have had to send to the US (I live in UK) for some repro ones and I had spent over on restoring a speedo I looked for a alternative and came up with these and they fit a treat putting a hole for the wire in the bottom they look not bad and at a fraction of the cost of the repro ones they are a little deeper you can cut them down I left them as they were -

Speedo bulb rubber bitsSpeedo restorationVery nice work, your speedometer restoration looks great. Can I ask what you did to restore the dial / face plate ? I'm currently restoring a speedometer which has faded numbers and and blistered paint. I have seen eBay sellers offering replacement dials in the past but none recently. I'm keen to keep my present unit as I want to add to the 47,000 plus miles when the restoration is complete. Cheers.
PhilD Re: Speedo restorationThe speedo face decal was from a guy in the US - Ronnie@jenningsservice.com a very helpful guy. The digits were replaced using self adhesive A4 SHEET using a inkjet printer from off ebay or www.photopaperdirect.com the paper is code SKU36. The digits were from off this forum do a search on speedo restoration. that was the most difficult I did lots of tests first using ordinary inkjet paper raping it round the a drum till I got the correct size it took me about 3 hours to just get them right they are not 100% but im happy. Here' a picture of the digits copy and past then test for size round drum- Forgot to say I used 2mm thick plastic perspex or alternative for the glass replacment a glass would have put the cost up to much for me and after all if they made this speedo today it would have a plastic face. Ho and the hands (needles) were sprayed using radiator enamel spray I had in the garage and the red tips were my granddaughter's nail varnish I liked the red so much I borrowed it to use going out it matched my lipstick don't tell the wife. Hope this is of help to you Phil. Any one know were you can get new chrome rims I know thats too much to ask. Speedo restorationThanks a lot for the information. I only really need the a new dial face as the numbers are reasonable and the glass is intact and reusable. I'll contact Ronnie and see if he still has supplies. Cheers.
