Post by rustyd-666 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 7:28 pm

I have a 68 dream and need to replace clutch cable. how do I get the knuckle part of kick start off ? I am mech inclined but ignorant as to motorcycle repair. I have a manual but it doesnt say how to remove just says to remove.if any one has the time to give me more details about how exactly to replace the cable it would be great help for me. thanks

Leave the kick start knuckle alone, it comes off with the side cover. It's held on by a snap ring on the back side. Just put a little counter-clockwise pressure on it as you pull the side cover off. It will want to snap forward as it comes off the splined kicker shaft (behind the cover).

thanks. in my youth I'd just start ripping stuff apart , rather not cause myself more trouble these days.
