what are the visual differences between the CB72 and CB77?

I think it would be nice to have a toy model of my CB77 but I see way more CB72 models online. I know there are mechanical differences between the two, but I don't know what the visual differences are. Are the two that much different? They appear to be identical.

You are correct. They look the same unless you can see that the carbs are slightly bigger or are able to see the 305 cast into the barrels, or the tank badges.
