Dream speedometer gear

Post by Eljeef » Wed Jul 28, 2010 9:28 pm

Not sure where to put this question. On the speedometer box there is a gasket. Mine has fallen apart. I can't find a reference to it in the Silver manual to get a part number. Has anyone had to deal with this? What did you do to remedy this problem? Thanks, Jeff H.

Thats what rebuilders use, either white marine silicone or sikeflex, just make sure you mask the glass and remove the masking right away to get a really clean line

If you mean the one between the trim ring and the headlight housing, I just cut one out of an old inner tube.

Sorry, I didn't make that clear enough. I'm talking about the other end of the speedo cable down at the front wheel. As I took my tire and rim off, the gasket or seal on the gear housing (referred to as the speedo gear box in the Silver's info) broke apart. This is what I am trying to figure out. I'll try to post pictures later tonight. Jeff H.
