handling problems

Folks,<br /> While riding my 64 ca77 I noticed when I got to 50 the bike felt like the back end was loose like riding on a a ribbed highway or in a 4 wheeler on a road with very worn tire tracks. The faster I went the worse it felt. I'm thinking the tires are new or the spokes need tuned and I was told the bearings could cause this. I have tightened every nut/bolt on the axel and shocks. I started trying to tune the spokes but thought I'd better check with someone who might know. &quot;It's not like I know what I'm doing.&quot; Any ideas on how to tune spokes or checking wheel bearings? Are all of the spokes tight?Loose or missing spokes will give you that feeling.Put the bike up on the center stand and spin it and see if it's bent. I'm riding with a rear rim that is bent but it still does not fell too bad. Also, on the wheel bearings, if they were bad you should be able to move whole wheel up and down or wiggle it somehow to see if there is slop.

Thanks FLYHAVEN 2001. I did as you said and there were some spokes that didn't &quot;ring&quot; when tapped with a small wrench. I noticed that most of the spokes had the same or similar tone. I guess that's why they call it &quot;tuning&quot; the spokes. Also there doesn't seem to be any play and the wheel is turning true to the eye. Anyway, it didn't seem to help so I'll probably have it done professionally this winter. I may be dismantling it to have it painted anyway.<br /> I'll let you know if I figure this out.

Could it be bad/loose/worn out/dried out swing arm bushings?

That's a posibility or loose swing arm bolt?

Folks,<br /> Im not sure this makes sense but I removed the rod that goes through from one swing arm to the other (master link?), greased it and shot some wd40 around the bushings. Seems to handle much better. Thanks, Bob (speleogeezer)
