I need some advise

Post by shanepeeler » Mon May 04, 2009 10:09 am

Hello, I stumbled acrost your forum while researching the super hawk. I am a professional mechanic (non motorcycle) who found a 1965 superhawk motorcycle for sale. It is complete except for the side covers and airbox. The kickstarter lever is missing and the right footpeg and brake lever mount is broken. The bike has been parked in a barn for 28 years and hasnt run in as long. The cables are frozen up but otherwise everything looks straight and in relatively good shape. I am considering this bike for a restoration project as I have been looking for an older honda to restore (cb 550). The asking price is 150 dollars and I am pretty sure I can get my money out of it by parting it out but am much more interested in fixing and riding. What do you guys think? Thanks Shane Strong, Cassopolis MI

you didn't mention if the motor is frozen or not. it would make your restoration easier if it was free and in good condition . either way , $150 sounds like a great deal

$150 is cheap, even if the engine is frozen. Depending on how correct of a resto you want to do, it will cost some money to bring her back to life. personally, it would already be in my shop!

Thanks for the information. I am going to buy it and should have it by this weekend. I am sure I will have lots of questions for everyone. Any other advice?
