Whatzit quiz

Post by jleewebb » Sun Mar 01, 2009 10:29 am

Just for curiosity: when I went to clean up bolts to mount my front fender (CB77) I found three correct bolts in the baggie plus weird one at bottom of pic. (Luckily I had a spare.) Anybody got an idea of what it was before the guy at the Honda shop picked it up off the floor and used it to attach one of the fender stays to the bottom fork tube?

It's hollow up to hole below bolt head, which has 8 mm hex head with built in washer and slot for straight screwdriver on top. Same size JIS threads as other bolts. Looks like there's room for a rubber washer between hole and built in washer; I assume it's for bleeding something.

Is it rare? Can I get ten bucks for it on ebay? (just kidding.) Thanks, Lee

It's a banjo bolt, usually used to connect hydraulic brake lines to master cylinder, or caliper. Also sometimes spotted on the bottom of a carb, so fuel can be drained. Estimated worth, nuttin honey!
