Engine Mounts Repair?

Post by lhz55 » Sat May 31, 2008 10:35 pm

Hello again,
1965 CB77. The Frame has one of the rear 4 engine bolt tabs broke off. The missing tab is the top one near the tool box, left side. The other six ( 3 on top and 3 remaining in the rear) are fine. Do I find a welder to repair the missing bolt hole or can I safely run her on the remaining six?
Thanks, Lee

Kirk, your's certainly looks like it could easily be repaired by a capable welder. Worth saving for sure since it's titled! Can't really say on the other without seeing it, but take it to a good welder and see what he thinks.

Kirk, Thanks for the photo. Mine is excaltly like the photo. I bought another frame from Charlie
and the same mount was split. Seems like there should be a common cause for this failure. I will attempt to take before and after pictures on the welding.
Thanks Davomoto & Kirk.

Seems to me a decent welder could cut the remainder of that tab off, fab a replacement and weld it in place.
